There's more than just these structures
I saw comments saying just these stones alone cost 20.7 billion won
There's underground space like this
And inside there's a war-related exhibition space like this
I think the whole thing together comes to 20.7 billion won
Other posts just showed the rocks and claimed it cost 20.7 billion, which is real talk misleading..
Personally, I think it's fine to have it in Gwanghwamun
Gwanghwamun is where foreigners go the most
Do war-related facilities have to be in war parks? Not sure
Admiral Yi and King Sejong were there, so it fits now
Once you're used to it, it won't look out of place anymore
Plus, compared to how much people talk about it, it doesn't take up that much space

At night they sit and rest while enjoying their walk around Gwanghwamun Plaza
People even take photos of the light gathering into the sky
If there's any negative reaction... maybe one particular nation's tourists feel uncomfortable..?
But most foreigners seem to find it interesting
Foreigners visiting Korea are usually pretty interested in the Korean War

Damn when did this go up lol it looks sick
Honoring foreign war veterans in a space that gets tons of foreign visitors is a good thing right? If you wanna complain about wasting money, complain about stuff like that Jamboree disaster. Check the budget breakdown before calling things wasteful—there's way worse spending out there
Compared to 28 billion, 16 billion, 37 billion for other projects... this actually seems like they did it on a budget lmao
Real talk
I'm obsessed with how Korea just commits to things being perfect, even if it's 'just' a garden
After seeing the Sewol ferry costing 28 billion, this 20.7 billion looks like a steal
It actually looks cool tho, why's everyone calling it an eyesore? Only downside is it coulda had a more Korean design to match Gwanghwamun better
It's pretty, didn't know there was underground space
20.7 BILLION WON?? that's like... *checks conversion* ...okay that's actually insane for a garden lol
Good job
Compared to the Jamboree fiasco, this was actually done cheap and well
As someone who lives in Seoul, I walked past this and honestly had no idea it cost that much 💀 just looks like a really nice park
The detail work is beautiful but I can't help thinking about how many schools or hospitals that money could've funded instead
POV: you have unlimited government budget and decide to make the most extra garden in existence
okay but it actually looks stunning though?? the photography really does it justice, not gonna lie
reminder that this is still cheaper than some metro projects in other countries lmaooo
