FT = ForbiddenTome — tap to see Korean slang explained

I ordered Hwayo but they gave me Chamisul, so when I asked why they didn't give me Hwayo, they brought Hwayo from another table and offered to let me taste it. When I posted this online, they asked "what do you want?" The apology saying "it was all the sommelier's mistake" was posted 2 weeks later. That apology also only came up after a YouTuber who was directly called out by them gave a detailed explanation and the controversy grew (the live footage on the YouTuber's video and the callout video explanation are different too). They're deleting all other critical comments.

Impression really does seem to be a science.

But wasn't the restaurant already getting called out before the Wine King video? Did the video reveal something new?

🐿️

People like them so that's why there's still all this back-and-forth. If it was just some fine dining place that didn't make it on TV, we'd have heard every excuse under the sun—people burning through tens of thousands of won per meal, luxury this and that, that's why Korea's like this, etc. etc.

🥚

I don't like Ahn Sung-jae either but separately from that, Black Wine's behavior is so unlikeable I genuinely hate him lol

🐿️

I feel the same way exactly

🐿️

wait hold up, is this actually credible or just another hot take lol

🐿️

A restaurant charging hundreds of thousands per meal is openly deceiving customers and we're supposed to just ignore it?

🐿️

People who admit their mistakes and shortcomings, apologize sincerely, and correct course—they're the ones who actually level up with real skills and substance. The ones who dodge accountability out of habit just keep creating contradictions like this until eventually they get caught and kicked out.

🐿️

But if Wine King hadn't called this out and it was just some random person, would it have even gotten buried?

🥚

Why is Black Wine called that? There was barely anything on Namu Wiki about it. Is he someone who takes shots at people a lot normally?

🐿️

Maybe it's just because those kinds of videos exploded in views over the past year? But when I checked, they only posted like 3 videos like that in a year and most of it was just wine-drinking content

🐿️

If that's true, shouldn't they lose their Michelin rating or whatever?

🐿️

okay but like... what are we supposed to do about it now? 👀

🥚

The response is just really disappointing

🐿️

finally someone said it 💯 been thinking this for weeks ngl
