Even flying first class just once a year makes planes way better value
I'm always torn between instant teleportation to work vs instant teleportation home
If you think about actual usage time, it's basically a taxi situation. How much would you really fly if it were free? You're not gonna travel the world 24/7 just because flights are freeLol. The taxi wins on practicality. Why compare anyway?
Bruh first class flights every time, no debate 😂 You ever sat in a taxi for 12 hours? Yeah didn't think so
It's not just about taxi costs—there's no way a taxi gives you the same vibe as a plane. Taking taxis sucks: whether it's a fancy one or a regular one, you're still stuck in traffic and it's miserable either way. No comparison.
You probably won't fly that many times in your life anyway. As you get older, traveling far gets exhausting. To take first class, you'd have to actually go somewhere far, which means taking time off work—and that gets tiring too. Free taxis hit different: no car payment, no driving yourself, easy commuting. Way better honestly.
It's just preference lolol. I'd pick taxi. So who's paying for my rides?
Money-wise, first class planes win by a landslide. But convenience-wise, taxi taxi. Here's the thing: no car purchase, no driving stress, no country restrictions. With just plane costs covered, you could get luxury foreign cars with personal drivers anywhere in the world.
I'm always shocked at how many braindead comments bring up airline miles on this
Duty free shopping on the plane
The one-time value from planes is overwhelming, but I think the real drawback is accessibility. If you're living a normal life and not actually living inside the plane to abuse the benefits, then taxis have obvious everyday utility. I'd pick taxi.
Driving isn't hard for me or anything, and it's not exhausting. Planes are different—I'd pick planes because of that.
How many international trips are you really taking with your free time anyway? You don't skip vacations because of flight costs; you skip them because you don't have time lmaoao
Even ignoring loyalty programs, if you book first class, you get the lounge sleeping rooms, massage chairs, buffets, premium beds, showers, spas, full course meals—all bundled in. Say you're completely broke with no connections: you could pick planes, skip around, live in airport lounges across the world and actually sustain a life. Homeless person with no ties > planes. Working person needing vacation days > taxis. Rich people who already have nice cars and enjoy driving or people with tons of free time > planes. That's how it breaks down.
If you include all those perks, it'd be amazing, but I think the original question was just about transportation. Once you bring in things like loyalty programs, people start asking 'well what if the taxi driver also made side money?' which kills the point.
Strip away plane perks and it's obvious for normal people—anyone not retired doing world tours or a CEO flying constantly would pick taxis. But I like driving, so I'd pick planes anyway
I take the bus and subway, so I'm picking flights.
This is actually tough because taxis are way more practical for daily life but first class sounds so luxurious lol
Wait hold up, if I'm getting free first class flights my whole life I'm basically traveling for free anyway so taxis become irrelevant??? 🤔
Taxi easily, I'm terrified of flying and honestly prefer keeping my feet on the ground ngl
